The Gateway World Wide Technology Raceway is the best-kept secret in St. Louis’s sports scene for more than 25 years. After hosting everything for years, from the lower levels to IndyCar through ARCA, NASCAR, and NASCAR Cup Series, the secret is out. For the first time, the NASCAR Cup Series races take place here.
The inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 will open the Cup Series’ June month. Gateway has been a fixture of the NASCAR Xfinity Series schedules since the 1970s, as well as the Camping World Truck Series schedules. It is a track that many Cup Series drivers have faced on their way up to the top in stock car racing. It is a 1.25 mile oval that is flattened and egg-shaped. It is a difficult curve that drivers must master.
Bubba Wallace, Christopher Bell, and Kyle Busch have all won at Gateway. Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson will be the first to take to the track. Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and others will also be there. As the highly competitive regular season continues, this will bring many new challenges.
The Enjoy Illinois300 begins on Wednesday, March 3, at 3:30 PM. ET, with TV coverage on FS1 and streaming on fuboTVGet instant access).
